About Theresa

Essence of Wellness is owned and managed by Theresa Deramo. Theresa is a board certified by the NCCAOM and licensed in the state of Maryland to treat people. Theresa is also certified by the state of Maryland to treat companion animals. She treats people of all ages (including seniors and children) as well as animals to address pain and illness and optimize health and wellness. Theresa has 12 years experience working in western medicine as a medical assistant and several years in the mental healthcare system. Theresa received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Towson University and received her Master's in Acupuncture from The Traditional Acupuncture Institute (now known as MUIH) and became a licensed practitioner. She received an additional 187 hours of training to become certified to treat animals in the state of Maryland.

A new patient appointment is approximately 90-120 minutes at which time your health and lifestyle history is reviewed, and your first treatment is given. Follow up appointments are generally 40-60 minutes and how many appointments needed varies on goals of treatment, which will be discussed at the first appointment.
